Ducks Unlimited Canada is proud to host the first ever Boreal Wetland Centre Field School in partnership with the Grande Prairie Environmental Association! Join us on Monday June 2nd, 2025 at the Boreal Wetland Centre for a day of sharpening your technical skills before field season. Connect with other practitioners and enthusiasts (age 17+) from the wider Peace Region as local experts take you through soil, vegetation, and wetland assessment skill development!

  • Professionals, aspiring professionals, and enthusiasts who require training and professional development hours related to technical aspects of their work. Age 17+

  • The BWC Field School is being hosted at the Boreal Wetland Centre south of Grande Prairie in Evergreen Park. Once arriving in Evergreen Park, proceed directly west from the ball diamonds into Parking Lot D for the entrance.

  • Click the “Register Here” button above. Registration is $50 to participate in the workshops.

  • The BWC includes a network of interpretive trails with various material types (mulch, gravel, boardwalk, etc.). Although outhouses and water stations will be available for use, there is no electricity or running water.

  • It covers your participation in the various workshops along with a bagged lunch for the day.

  • Yes! Weather permitting, we will be hosting this event outdoors, using the site to facilitate training and discussion (imagine a trail network through the woods, with outdoor shelter cover). Please dress for the weather including but not limited to rubber boots/ boots that can get wet, rain jacket and a hat.

  • A welcome email will be sent out the week prior to the event including a detailed list of typical materials, tools, equipment you should bring. Don’t think you have what is needed? Bring what you have and there are plenty of opportunities to use BWC equipment or share with other participants.



  • Please make sure to note this when registering for the event and we will make every effort to accommodate this for your lunch.

  • Should you need to use any indoor facilities, the TARA Centre is located a 5 minute walk east of the BWC.
