Public Programming

The Boreal Wetland Centre (BWC) is a resource for the Public in Grande Prairie and the surrounding region. Bring your family and friends out to the site to enjoy a self-guided tour or attend one of our public events!

Pillar Events:

International Museum Day

The Boreal Wetland Centre is proud to have partnered with the City of Grande Prairie museum along with the Philip, J. Currie Dinosaur Museum and Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre to offer a day of free programming for the public. Learn more about the 2024 event here.

Bioblitz Week

Join DUC and friends at the BWC for our annual BioBlitz event typically occuring during the third week of June. Be a scientist for a day, learn more about the natural world and our relationship to it, and find as many plants and animals as possible!

Self Guided Tours:

The BWC is free and open to the public between dawn and dusk. Bring your class or group for a self-guided tour and explore the wonders of boreal wetlands. You can also stop by to walk your dog, get some fresh air, and participate in our community science programs like iWetland, iNaturalist, or Wetland Phenology. As you walk the trails be sure to take the opportunity to learn about innovative research and practices by reading some of the posted signs.

The BWC is an excellent local resource for naturalist, stewardship, or other environment-oriented groups and events.

Throughout the year DUC hosts free or low-cost events that are open to the public such as BioBlitz, visiting speakers, and more. See our events page to see upcoming events.
